How is the Lord merciful and kind to those who love him?

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. He could just send all of us to hell for our many sins against Him. But he Is mercy to those who put their faith and trust in Him only.
