I have a question about converting to Judaism and the rabbi turning me down?

I talked to the Orthodox rabbi at the congregation I live near about how I want to convert to Judaism and the rabbi has been bringing up everything to try to make me change my mind about converting. He wouldn't even talk to me about it at all the first time I saw him. He won't seem to understand that this is what I really want to do and he's discouraged me more than three times. Its making me feel rather hurt but I know this is what I want. How can I make him understand that I am really sincere and that I'm not doing this for anyone else but myself? Have any of you converted to Judaism and experienced this and how did you handle it?
