Is it safe to freeze yogurt and then defrost when you want to eat it?

I wanted to stock up on some things including non-fat yogurt but don't want the majority to go sour before I get a chance to eat it. Is it safe to freeze the non-fat yogurt and then thaw it whenever I'm ready to use it before the expiration date or even after the expiration date for that matter?
